Beastie Bay is a game by Kairosoft, a company that has become popular thanks to its addictive games for mobile phones in which they manage to combine strategy, Japanese management, and role play to provide you with an experience that’s in a half way between SimCity and Pokemon.
The basic idea behind the game is very simple: you are some type of animal trainer that lives on a beach with his pet and your objective is to discover the entire region surrounding you to start capturing all the animals you can while building a city (where they will all live) that has to be as big as you can make it.
The game is thus divided into two fundamental parts. On one hand you have the management part in which you have to build houses and several other buildings where your beasts can live in. On the other hand you have a 'role play' phase in which you take your team of beasts to discover new areas, find treasures, and fight other beasts.
During the combats you'll be able to capture enemy animals as long as they are weakened (like on Pokémon). You can thus build up a real community of beasts of all types: cats, crabs, gorillas, stone golems... truly all types.
Beastie Bay is a fun management and role playing game that has all the ingredients necessary to hook you on for hours and hours: a thing which could by now be called the 'Kairosoft effect'.
